Truth In Silence

Silence isn't always a bad thing.

In fact, it's a good thing, something we should all have in our lives. Everyday we are bombarded by constant noises, from music to traffic to tv. Sometimes we just need to stop, and listen to the silence. It's in the silence that God likes to speak to us. He talks to us, and it is so much easier to hear when it is just silence.

Just try to take a little time out of your schedule to just sit and listen. God will speak in the gentle breeze.

What's Your Purpose?

Have you ever been accused of doing something on purpose, and you said: "I'm sorry-it was an accident!"
Well do you live your life on purpose, or on accident? Well, since i was a young girl, i've felt like God has a big purpose or my life, but am still on a journey to find out what that is. I know i'm not the only one w/these questions. What does God have intended for our lives, and what does He have to say about our purpose?
Well in an awesome book-"Purpose Driven Life", by Rick Warren, he starts out by saying " we were born by God's purpose and for God's purpose. It's not about you. The purpose of yoru life is far greater than your own personal fullfillment, peace of mind, or even happiness. If you want to know why you were placed on this earth, you must begin with God."
1. you must begin w/God. Keep Him in the loop, and let Him direct your life.
Romans 8:28-39
Matthew 22:34-40
Make sure your purpose and everything you're doing leads back to loving God and loving others.
God created us and He knows us better than we know ourselves. We can't tell ourselves what we were created to be.
Kinda like when you see a new invention, you don't know its intended purpose unless you read the owner's manual, or talk straight to the creator.
Only through God can we discover our purpose and identity. All other roads lead us to a dead end.
Romans 8:5-8
God wants a friendship and relationship w/us. Just like Facebook, We need to have that kind of relationship /God.
So after you start W/God, you have to hear from God.
How do we hear from God?
Turn to the bible and see what God says. We have to read the owner's manual. The more time we spend w/God, the easier it is to understand it. We have to build our life on God and His truth.
Ephesians 1:11
In Closing, that verse gives us 3 insights into our purpose

1.start w/God-have a relationship
2.God thought of you before you ever knew He existed. He chooses our purpose. (he cares about what you care about, but He created you and knows what He made you for.)
3.The purpose of your life is to be a part of something huge, bigger than you could ever dream of. Don't ever let anyone tell you any different.

Ask yourself: How can i remind myself that my purpose if really about living for God, and not myself?

January 8th, 2009

Hey everyone, and happy new year. It's 2009.

This past Thursday at Connect Downtown, Dr. John Daniels was the speaker. It was titled, "7 Deadly Sins."

The 7 deadly sins are pride, lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, anger, and envy. Here is what they mean.

Lust-excessive sexual desires
Gluttony-over indulgence
Greed-to covet, acquisition of wealth
Sloth-sadness, despair, depression leading to being paralyzed
Anger-rage, inordinate and uncontrollable feelings of hatred
Envy-being jealous
Pride-hubris, vanity, most serious-excessive love of self

The worst of these is Pride, and all of them can be pretty much summed up into pride.

There are 3 conditions we battle. Arrogance, indifference, and disobedience.

All of these can be hard to face, but if you love God, and follow the Bible, we can overcome these sins.
